WISH: Settings Option for Showing of Images in HTML-Mails
AyeJay Mon, 12/31/2012 - 09:34
I am using SimpleMail V 2.83.3 and its working fine - in general!
What I would like to have as an option however is a switch or button for the displaying or NOT-displaying of image-contents within HTML-mails.
Often these images are loaded from servers which track your Email-reading behavior, which is a simple spying on me...
... which I don't want.
An option to choose that displaying, either generally or for some mail account or on an individual mail basis would be nice...
... please think it over. At its best - ALL THREE cases combined together!
A Happy New Year to all involved in creating and supporting this nice SimpleMail Add-On for FireFox!

Re: WISH: & Some BUG I found
Submitted by AyeJay on Thu, 01/17/2013 - 13:50Ah, thanks - that would be really a big step forward to a real professional mailer program.
Let me talk here about something different too, which I observed, completely unrelated to that wish however:
Seems to be a BUG:
when starting - by some mishap normally - TWO or more instances (shown in separate multiple tabs) of SimpleMail in Firefox, then only one instance (in the first opened tab) is working correctly (showing new mails e.g. after a refresh operation), the other instances don't do so.
It would be advantageous however, to forbid SimpleMail to start MORE than ONE instance, firstly because no one needs more than one working instance and secondly avoiding such and any other irritations...
... just a remark to think over.
Thanks again!
P.S.:
I am missing a mark or sign for SENT mails indicating wether a mail has been sent with activated notification request or not...
Some other BUGS I found...
Submitted by AyeJay on Thu, 01/17/2013 - 13:50I would rate the following behavior as a BUG...
... when SimpleMail opens first in some Firefox tab in a window of Firefox, let us call it "window #1", and you push reply for some mail, everything is working fine: the reply tab is opened beneath the SimpleMail tab in "window #1" and address, as well as subject etc. are readily inserted for the newly created reply mail.
If you move however, said SimpleMail tab from "window #1" to another, separate window of Firefox, named now "window #2" and push reply for a mail, the reply tab is NOT created in said "window #2", but it is created back in the former "window #1" instead, and there are NO preset values, such as address and subject filled in, which makes the REPLY function completely UNUSABLE!
As another FLAW I recognized that from Simple Mail Preferences pop-up window, from the Credits tab therein, a click onto the SimpleMail Homepage link is always opening a NEW WINDOW in Firefox, which is not what one expects for a tabbed browsing experience...
... it should simply open in another TAB beneath the SimpleMail tab, don't you think so?!
And another small one - in the box for ENCODING choices I have some strange letters in bold at the beginning of the field, where do they come from?

you're right
For the first point, why do you want to open a new window if for the first point you request a tabbed browsing ....

i have the same bug and i'm lokking for correct it

I don't want to OPEN a NEW WINDOW, but this just happens, when you are pulling a tab somewhat downwards (since FF V17!), and IF it happens you ARE already in "window #2" and then SimpleMail stops working correctly, as I described above.
Another argument could be however:
I WANT to have SimpleMail stay ALWAYS open in a separate window, which could be of real use in some cases, anyway it should work correctly in every window...
... which means, it should open its derived child tabs in the SAME window, not in a former (parent) window, where it came from.
