Firefox not retaining bookmarks on reboot

Hello, I am having a very hard time.
Got a new work computer, so I immediately installed fast dial.
Downloaded a theme from the site (EarthfromSpace.zip).
Please see here
After a few days, I decided to change the theme to a plain image.
Spent days requesting logos and setting up my fastdial page. it was perfect.
When I close firefox and turn it back on, everything is okay.
But when I turn off the computer or restart it, I lose my image and bookmark folders.
It always goes back to EarthfromSpace with no bookmarks.
I spend the day reposing every image and link and the same issue occurs when the computer is restarted. This has happened a dozen times.
I uninstalled fast dial and reinstalled it, Earth from Space is still listed in the memory and is used as the default theme, still not saving my info.
I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it then installing fast dial, same issue. this theme is haunting my firefox and wont go away, inhibiting me from customizing or even using fast dial the way I need it.
Any advice?

That is never encountered here before
I would use only versions of Firefox that have been in use for a little while.

That's very strange. Your firefox profile seems to reset itself upon restart, clearing all changes.
You mentioned this is all happening on a company computer?
Many corporate companies reset the hard drive on every reboot to prevent people from installing unauthorized or personal software.
I remember the college that I had attended did this. Upon every restart the hard drive was reset.
The only issue is.. how you managed to install fast dial and have it persistently stay there?
If the above is true, your fast dial would disapear as well.
One way to test:
Create a simple text file inside your profile folder. Restart your PC, and check if it's still there.

If I was right about all of the above ^, you wouldn't be able to keep Pale Moon through a restart.
Sooo, this has to be something with your firefox setup. Very weird.

See closer towards the bottom, titled:
"Unable to save any preferences or settings"
Your prefs.js file may be read-only or corrupt.
There are steps there to fix it.

Yep unless it is some sort of third party intervention, like you mention, it does not really make sense.

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Mon, 10/13/2014 - 20:46What is weird is that Firefox does save
That is close Firefox and reopen and all seems OK
This would suggest that places.sqlite is functioning correctly ?
It is only on reboot that things don't work
Don't get that.....
