New Tab Page in Firefox 12/13/14

Submitted by Jack Beauregard on Mon, 03/19/2012 - 11:01.

Idk why they're doing this, because FD has way more features and there're a couple of addons going to become superfluous...

here you can see the "new tab" feature.

I hope FD continues as a functional and superior addon, this "new tab" ist just annoying!

cheers

We do have multiple types of users. You’re clearly keyboard focused thus not really in the target audience of the New Tab Page. There is a ‘x’ button in the upper-right corner that lets you disable the new view and just gives you the old blank page.

This statement is not entirely true. See the screenshots (Wait for the screenshot to change)

Great
Perfect display
Thanks

Is there still the option in Firefox to enter information in options for blank page ??

If so have you tried entering
chrome://fastdial/content/fastdial.html
as home page ??

This agrees with your fix

If there is a drop down page this is easier than going to about:config

also on Jack Beauregard's Link

I think the method for getting rid of it is hard to discover though; it really should just be a checkbox on the Tabs panel in the preference window. I wouldn’t have noticed it myself; I had to look around and find a place where someone mentioned it.

Yes, I agree that this is not really easy to discover. We’re thinking about having a drop-down menu in the Preferences dialog that lets you choose the url for the new tab page.

Well yes is a necessary requirement really.
Maybe part of Firefox Options settings lie the home page settings
There has to be a simple and accessible way to switch this on to allow choices to users. otherwise it will be mayhem.

The homepage can still be changed to whatever url you want.
