Frontpage

Well i had a nice post here about modifying the frontpage, and it included screenshots and all. but some idiot n00b that have no life decided to edit it and change it all to spam links.
i cant do much about it since it was not a registered user....
the most i could find was, he is using comcast, and is in NH
i did get his IP, so if he decides to do it again, hes up for a site-wide IP ban
not sure how they got permission to edit the page - i may re-edit this later to make it look like the original post.

Re: Suggestion: FrontPage
Submitted by gumanov on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 15:57ok.
ill continue working on it..
NOTE: @ those who know HTML or CSS..
how can i..(instead of using this image):

just use the two rounded sections (left and right), and use a background color for the middle? this way the titles will be more fluid and resizable
Examples of this being done is on the titles of content on this page: http://userlogos.org/logos
Help would be appreciated (i am not an expert in css nor html..but i do know some)

I am not sure I understand your question.
Could you not look at the CSS for the page you mention with Web Developer/CSS/View CSS or is that no help ?
Re: Suggestion: FrontPage
Submitted by gumanov on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 16:13yes i tried that, but i cannot figure out some sections..
it seems the html is using one corner as a background for that area, but somehow all four corners are showing up.
it got me very confused..
i just googled rounded corners css, and found a tutorial - i will try that now..
Re: Suggestion: FrontPage
Submitted by telega on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 16:23As for me block titles would be fine without rounded boxes.
Re: Suggestion: FrontPage
Submitted by soundofemotion on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 19:31The round corners is typically done by a grid of 9 squares ([Row 1 = topleft topmiddle topright], [Row 2 = middleleft, middlemiddle middleright], [Row 3 = bottomleft, bottommiddle, bottomright]). Instead of this, simply modify the image for topleft and topright and have one row of three squares ([Row 1 = middleleft, middlemiddle (content goes here), middleright).
I hope that makes sense. It's very easy to do. All you need to do is ensure the background for middleleft and middleright is your "rounded" images, and the middlemiddle square just has a background color of whatever your color is.

thnx for the info - i did understand most it..
i have looked into the other page that uses a similar technique, and have copied the necessary code..
i have updated the beta frontpage, and it seems to be working
(note: the 1 pixel white strips will be fixed - margin issue)
