What's Happening With FD?

I realise that the original creator is ill, but is there any indication of when FD development is going to be taken up again, by him or someone else?
I'd really like to see the search boxes working again with the current version, as well as seeing the glitches people have been having ironed out. I know it's just bad timing that mafi0z (is mafi0z the creator?) fell ill right after all this fiasco started, but this extension's reputation is sadly wallowing and is in serious need of a boost.
I know this is most probably a pointless post, but I'm feeling a bit helpless and I suppose I just wanted some reassurance that FD isn't on permanent hiatus. It's completely revolutionised the way I browse online, especially when the search box was working, but I've recently started eyeing up things like New Tab King and wondering if it's time to jump ship. I'd hate to think so.

If you are seriously attached to search then use 2.22b.
Search works fine in 2.22b
2.23b1 was really a beta Version and search format was in development and does not work

mafi0z is not the creator of Fast Dial, but he has played a major part in setting up this site, in contributing FD Logos, and arguing for and coming up with a whole number of suggestions for the developement Fast DIal.
The developer of Fast Dial is telega.

If you can survive the loss of cells on an update, then somehow in my experience Fast Dial keeps going.
The biggest problem for me is drag and drop failing, but this is not universal
Seems a mite early to jump ship.

I am sure I tried to use the older version (2.22b) but it claimed it was incompatible with the most recent Firefox versions. I will try that again on my test laptop and see if I have more success. Perhaps at the time 2.23b1 was released, I simply got a bit confused, with all the chaos going on :)
I must admit I am a fan of the search bar, but it is not ABSOLUTELY essential. I am really just sad about the GENERAL halt in development.
The developer of Fast Dial is telega.
Right, of course. I knew mafi0z didn't sound right. Apologies for the confusion, and I of course wish telega all the best.

I agree, for the moment. Fast Dial is one of my most treasured/essential add-ons, and to replace it with an alternative would be a loss, but how long can it hold out without any development? It's been some months now.
EDIT: When I tried to install 2.22b, I did get an incompatible message, but I remembered I've recently installed Nightly Tester Tools which allowed me to force install. 2.22b is working fine now then, with my layout intact and search working. Thanks for the suggestion.

Good news !
Smart thinking ! :-)
Regarding the above This may interest you
Version 2.22b has been updated on AMO
Fast Dial is one of my most treasured/essential add-ons
not the most treasured ?
how, I wonder, would you use firefox to relate to the world without the intuitive and personally customisable interface of fast dial ? :-)
how long can it hold out...
well, it seems to be just about hanging in there by some sort of serendipity..
yes a new bullet proof update with no added facilities would be a great start...
Fast Dial developed really exponentially.
And just when it got really excellent it was sort of shot out of the sky.
I think telega must have been greatly disheartened by this reaction, as the work and creativity that he had put into Fast Dial was really unbelievable, and it as if no one had really noticed, or had been grateful to him for all that he had done.
