A tutorial for users who don't know haw to make drop shadows.
Step #1
Paste the logo that you are making into GIMP
Step #2
Then go to light and shadow and click on drop shadow
Step #3
A window will open.
For more advanced drop shadows you can fiddle around with these settings but for normal logos just click ok.
Step #4
And there you have it…

First, this assumes knowledge of GIMP someone who doesn't know how to make a drop shadow probably doesn't know. Like where is this 'light and shadows" of which you speak, and what was done that makes one of these things not like the others?
I see this was written in 2009 and I have been a member for quite a while but, hey, I just now have time to start developing my editing skills beyond Paint and Irfanview (though I'm not bad at that). I would like to learn how to do much more and possibly help out with the requests here, but you have to start somewhere. I can't believe nobody else has had a problem with this and hope it's just been a matter of being too embarrassed to ask and either spent considerable time figuring out where it was or gave up trying. Who knows how many more people might be helping make these logos if only they knew what more experienced people take for granted. It's so easy to forget these details and as I'm apparently unafraid of making a total idiot of myself, I thought it might be nice to include directions to the locations within GIMP mentioned here.

PS: I discovered the Light and Shadows under Filters...but I still cannot see a difference in the image here at all. What am I missing?
