Re: FD 3.5 problems
Submitted by Ray Finkle on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 10:34Just installed Firefox 5 and lost all my FDs. I am also unable to create any new ones. Please advise.
Re: FD 3.5 problems
Submitted by jackrv on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 19:08I upgraded to FF 5 and just get a blank tab instead of fast dial.
I did not receive any incompatible error when upgrading but fast dial just doesn't work.
I went back to FF 4.0.1 and fast dial works as before.

p.s. How do you log out from this site?
p.p.s. I apparently re-downloaded 3.4, when I went to the site listed here(experimental install) it worked.

Re: FD 3.5 problems (now OK)
Submitted by aibias on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 18:09I've had the same problems with Firefox 5.0 (on Fedora15) and Fast Dial 3.4; so I installed the development version 3.5b1 and all seems OK, also my last settings have been loaded correctly.
Great!
Thanks.
Re: FD 3.5 problems
Submitted by shinytel on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 18:16Where can 3.5b be obtained?
Re: FD 3.5 problems
Submitted by Truebador on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 18:43I also got a blank screen and my FastDial button didn't work.
I tried reinstalling from scratch, but it didn't work.
I ended up going back to the FF4 and reinstalling FD3.4, but now that doesn't work either (everything works, but all my logos are opaque).
Next step is to go back another version if I can find a link for it. Then I'll sit pretty and wait for something that works with FF5. I haven't given up on FastDial yet. It's one of my favourite Firefox addons.
*Using fully updated Window Vista.

everything works, but all my logos are opaque
Please explain
Are you saying that you have lost transparency or have all your links in the cells gone.
If all links have gone please look in the Fast Dial Folder in Bookmarks Menu and see if your previous links are still there
Please report back
thanks

Where can 3.5b be obtained?
To get the 3.5* version, click on home (top left of this screen, below the UserLogos logo.
When you get to the next page, look in the first topic and click the blue link "other versions page".
Next click the yellow "Add to Firefox" button subtitled "Not reviewed".
Just restart your Firefox and that should be it.
Don't forget to leave your bug reports and system details on the log section further below on the UserLogos homepage.
Re: FD 3.5 problems
Submitted by Truebador on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 19:07I meant that the transparency was not working on the cells. Sorry for the confusion.
Somehow I got hold of a FD3.5 from another location on this site (can't find it now). I have since installed the one on the FF Addons page. It is working with FF4 (except for the transparency issue, so I'm going to updating to FF5 again.
I'll keep you posted.

This transparency isssue is Firefox related.
In other words it is a bug in Firefox 4+
If you were to return to FF 3.6.18 and refreshed all your cells they would become transparent again.
In theory if you could manage to upgrade to Firefox 5 without refreshing your cells they would remain transparent.
Sods law suggests that upgrading to Firefox 5 means that the cells are refreshed in the process and hence transparency lost.
Re: FD 3.5 problems
Submitted by Truebador on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 19:38Interesting. Just had a look in the preferences at all the other cell feature settings.
It seems that transparency on the "Title" backgrounds and borders are working fine. I can turn transparency on or off.
It is just "Thumbnail" backgrounds and borders that will not switch on and off. I'm not a programmer, but it made me wonder...
Is there a difference in the coding between the titles and thumbnails that you could take advantage of to somehow tweak a patch for the thumbnails? I just thought, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
* Forgot to mention, the FF5 update works fine with FD3.5 except again for the transparency issue. I can live with it for now.
