Re: Quit working on Firefox 7.0.1 update
Submitted by Kougeru on Mon, 11/07/2011 - 18:23I appreciate the fast response. The button WAS there to set as home. I changed my homepage to google first and then used the bookmark button to set as home for fast dial. No change. It opens a blank page on my main window. When I open a NEW WINDOW (CTRL+N) it works fine on the new window still. Very very odd. I'm gonna try uninstalling it and doing a registry clean before reinstalling.
Edit: Did ^ that and still no change....Don't know what the problem could be guess I have no choice but to wait for the next real version and hope it works fine there unless you guys here can come up with some ideas.
Edit 2: Okay I'm a noob. I just tried actually going on a website on the "NEW WINDOW" that it worked on..and simply going to a single website made it not work anymore. It seems like having a single website load makes it not work except on new windows.

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Mon, 11/07/2011 - 21:31Have you checked all your Firefox and Fast Dial settings regarding Tabs?
Have you tried in a new Firefox profile with only Fast Dial running ?
What happens when you do CTRL_T ?
Are you running Tab Mix Plus or any program that effects tabs ?
There has to be a simple reason for this happening...

Submitted by Kougeru on Mon, 11/07/2011 - 22:19Wow. Just wow. I feel like a moron lol. Apparently my "show fast dial in new tabs" box got unchecked somehow? I don't know how that would happen though I didn't mess with it. Oh well, problem solved. Thank you and sorry for your time, I feel so dumb right now haha. Time to make logos :)

Submitted by Kougeru on Mon, 11/07/2011 - 22:33Oh just to clarify, the reinstall is what fixed it..I just forgot to check that AFTER the reinstall apparently. I think my original install corrupted or something.

So somehow your original preference settings were altered
And then with a reinstall the preference settings were reset correctly
Is that what you are saying
If so, I am glad doing that worked for you, and that you understood the cause

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Tue, 11/08/2011 - 12:14I do note that if you have in Preferences/General
Show fast dial in blank tabs not selected (ticked) that this leads to a strangely erratic behaviour of the fast dial page.
ie Fast Dial can appear and then immediately disappear after visiting a web page.
if you right click on the blank page that appears you will not see the fast dial context menu either. this is most disconcerting.
this is because I suppose one is no longer on the fast dial page, but to the user it is unclear what has happened or what is happening, and how to remedy it.
