There have been some reports of problems in the address bar with FD.

One user on AMO said this problem went away when the Fast Dial Toolbar Button was removed

I went through a bit of a love/hate thing with this... at first I loved it! It was nice to have all the sites I use frequently on one page like that... but then I tried to navigate away from the Fast Dial page and found that my address bar wouldn't work. I was so disappointed! But, after reading some other reviews, I found that if you right-click on the Fast Dial icon and click "customise", then drage the icon into the pop-up window, the address bar works again! So I'm back to loving it :)
