Reverted to last version

Already uninstalled the latest version and reverted to the last one because
1) Upstart program added three bookmarks without asking
2) For maximum inconvenience it added them to the beginning of the list so after deleting them I had to re-jig the others to plug the gap
3) The Preferences dialog box wouldn't seem to come up so I could check to see if I could get rid of the annoying Google search box (on re-starting Firefox it seems like it was just hiding behind it)
And whilst the uninstall-reinstall seemed to have gone smoothly enough, now when I open a new tab it's blank even though the "Show Fast Dial in new tabs" is selected and I'm sure they weren't before.

That just leaves the 'upstart program adding its own bookmarks' putting me off.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 01/09/2009 - 09:08I am just about to do the same, the adding of the bookmarks really pissed me off, but I dealt with it. Whats getting me now is there is a fastdial icon in the tab bar on the right side that is causing my tabs to be 3x the normal height, since there was already an icon there (I think it was added by tabmix plus), and it just stacks them. Is there any way to get rid of the fast dial icon? There is nothing in preferences. If I have to choose between FD and Tabmix, FD is gone.

I belive this problem was fixed in 2.16 - visit the Mozilla addon download page again.

Regarding the large tabs question please see:
Larger Tabs Fix - Fast Dial 2.15 and Tab Mix Plus
If you read it you will see in fact that Tab Mix Plus has made a fix which allows both extensions and Fast Dial Tab Icon to co-exist ! :-)
macleod.mac is of course right.
Later Fast Dial Versions resolved the problem by just removing the Fast Dial Tab Icon completely. :-(
Hopefully it will be back when the Tab Mix Plus Version with the Fix is more readily available.
Many thanks

Well, one thing I also experienced is that it added 3 bookmarks to my fast dial without consent after upgrading to 2.16. Although I can remove these after, adding bookmarks without consent is not nice. Why does so much software that starts of good always have to resort to advertising or "partner affiliated" links these days?
The other thing that really disappointed me is the option for using Java to scale images seems to be removed. The old version could use Java to scale images, and the scaled images looked nice. The alternative gives horrible looking nearest-neighbour scaled images instead, looks really ugly. What I don't get is, why remove a feature if it was only an optional feature, that was not turned on by default anyway?
Reverted to old version, just so I could get Java scaling back. Please return Java scaling if possible.

3 bookmarks were removed in latest version 2.18.

Yes I too really liked Java
The problem occurred in JRE 6u10 and then 6u11.
These Versions inhibit Fast Dial from using Java.
The result of this was that many users were upgrading their Java and were having big problems as none of their cells would refresh.
So the solution was to remove Java scaling as an option from Fast Dial.
I miss it too.
Watch out when you upgrade your Java :-)
