transparency problem

I used to have a different opacity settings for active (higher value) and normal (lower value) thumbnails, which worked perfect till recently. Now fast dial considers a thumbnail active only when I move the mouse over its title or the settings buttons and as a result there is no difference between active and inactive thumbnails.

Here is a picture of the preferences menu
If you set your opacity settings as here, that is 5 in the left column and 10 in the right then there should effectively be a difference between cells on hover and non hover.

Please help me here what does higher and lower value refer to ?
Many thanks

Thanks for the pictures.
I must be particularly obtuse today, but I still don't understand your problem.
There is something that you are saying that I have not yet grasped.
What is that you would like to happen exactly.
I would expect the the thumbnail to change opacity only on mouse-over.
When do you want it to change ?
I am determined to understand you in the end :-)
Many thanks

Could you change some appearance preferences (if you haven't after upgrade) and see if anything changes.
