opening about:blank (fast dial) in new window + workaround

It seems like a rather rare bug (as far as I know), but on a
http://www.movies-links.tv/movies/blade_runner/
when trying to open any movie link, it opens in a new window, at the fast dial page. This may likely be because javascript links in general can interfere with fast dial.
Disabling the the fast dial addon nullifies the problem, and tweaking FF javascript controls seems to have no effect.
A simple workaround is to go to Tools -> Options, click 'Tabs', and checkmark the box titled 'Open new windows in a tab instead', and the correct pages load in a tab rather than a new window.
Anyone else having a similar problem, or is this just a complete newb topic anyways? I'm running FF3.6 in case anyone's wondering.

Not sure I understand you.
Can you give me an example of a "movie link" so I can try to understand your problem

then click on any movie, then on any link on the next page. This last link is the javascript one.

show fast dial in blank tabs
open links in new tab
Would also recommend in Firefox Settings
Hide the tab bar never...
this will enable you to return to the root folder in fast dial easily

Perhaps you could walk me through it slowly
Describing what is in each tab, and what occurs in detail.
Once I have understood you I will try to reproduce. :-)
if you think your problem might be caused by an extension conflict, please try loading just fast dial into a new profile and see if your problem continues to happen.

fast dial is set to open in about:blank
open firefox
fast dial root folder appears in the one open tab
click on Userlogos cell in root to open UL
opens in second tab
Have open windows in new window set in firefox
I click on your link which then appears in the current tab (second tab)
the root tab is still where it was when firefox opened in the first tab.
and you ?
or does your problem only start when you start the film ??
what software is being used to run the film ?

Submitted by Smacked on Wed, 03/03/2010 - 02:36In Fast Dial Preferences, I have reverted all the tab settings to their defaults, and I have changed my homepage back to Firefox' default google page and that doesn't change anything either...
This problem occurs when using Fast Dial v2.23b1
I open Firefox, and link to this help page. I close any other open tabs, and link to the movies-links page in a second tab.
On the http://www.movies-links.tv/movies/blade_runner/ tab, There are 9 seperate links to video files hosted elsewhere.
When I click any of the 9 links (which are all javascript links), instead of opening a new window with the javascript source link in the address bar, the new window's address reads 'about:blank', and shows the fast dial page.
At first, it would seem to have little to do with the Fast Dial extension (doesn't even have to be linked from Fast Dial), rather a problem with window control in FF itself, if only the problem didn't disappear when only Fast Dial was disabled.
Edit:
I don't know much about addons and extensions, but perhaps the window/tab targeting code in the extension conflicts with the javascript targeting and an error occurs, where the about:blank page is the returned value? You're probably right about a addon conflict, since it makes the most sense given the circumstances. (Fast Dial effecting global link targets?)
If this is the case, the workaround mentioned in the 1st post is probably simple enough to be marked as a solution, or until a more official conclusion is reached.
