Background refresh possible?

Hey, i really like the FastDial Addon but there is one thing it would be really nice to have.
Is it possible to refresh the Background every.. 100Msecs?
I want to set my Desktop as background for Fastdial. So i have to refresh that Background everytime.
Is that possible?

Regarding background refresh.
It is worth noting that there is a bug in 2.23b1 such that if a background is saved you cannot load another one to the same theme.
The only way to get round this is to load a background in defaults.
It might be of interest to you to look at the fast dial code for logo refresh, for this exists in logo/properties.
But I guess this is simply taking a fresh screenshot of the URL
There is of course also Firefox refresh, but that refreshes all the logos as well.
I guess the problem would be in the coding how to refresh the background in a way that did not disturb viewing and that also the demand on the computer did not freeze fast dial/firefox.
Please let us know when you have a prototype :-)

It is worth noting the developer of Fast Dial has been absent for about a year, so there is no one who can give you much advice technically.
I can however let you know where stuff is in the profile.
Maybe another approach for you could be to change fast dial background on Firefox restart.
This might be easier to do.
Or is there some aspect of your Desktop that you want to monitor all the time.
Can you maybe use a Firefox Application to monitor these aspects from within Firefox so lessening your dependency on Desktop

The problem is not, to create the Screenshot of the desktop. Its just the Background refresh in Fastdial.
Normaly if i open Fastdial f.e with Ctrl-T the new Picture gets loaded. If there is a way to reload it every second. it is possible.

/edit: If i write a small plugin for firefox. That changes the Css of the Background of 'Body' then it could work...

Are you saying you have made already this modification ?
If there is a way to reload it every second. it is possible.
If you have done the above you could certainly try...
Please look in the auto-refresh code for the cell logo auto-refresh , maybe it will give you an idea of how to code this ?

I guess if you manage to work something out that works seamlessly, it might give the impression to the fast dial user that his fast dial background was indeed transparent...
be interesting to see...
let us hope that such a process does not slow down firefox/fast dial too much !!

Does not work on the fast dial page at the moment as one cannot address it on the context menu.
I am beginning to see though that if you could change the background image with css , that that would be the best route to go.
I wonder if it is possible though to differentiate between the background image and the logos.

It also works now quite good.
But at the moment you have to click on a label to let the bg change.
If i put that now into a while or something.
The bg gets changed every 100msecs.
The really problem is now to let it change every time :)

To get the right Screenshot, i have to retrieve every Icon on the Desktop. Also the Background.
I already was able to retrieve the Background from the Screen.
Now i have to retrieve the Icons and it's positions.
