Version 2.3 on Mac, broken

I was very impressed with Fast Dial add-on, until this morning when Firefox prompted me to update to the latest version. In the last half hour I have managed to step up to version 2.3 and then to 2.6, each version has progressively less functions. Actually I should say v 2.6 has no functions, it simply doesn't work. I can't find any further updates although I read a post where somebody spoke of v 2.7.
A glance through your forums suggests there maybe fixes but very complicated fixes which I don't want to know about. It all takes up time and frankly runs against the concept of "fast dial". What was the problem with the previous version that needed to be changed to this non-working variety? How did these versions get released in such poor condition? Why can't I find a reassuring statement from the developers?
I am now looking to find an alternative to "Fast Dial". Has anyone got any ideas?

Please try downloading Version 2.8
It has "Add to Fast Dial in the Tab Context Menu.
There has been positive feedback regarding this Version.
Please let us know how you get on.

since making my comments I have tried a few new things including using one of your competitor's products but that was unacceptable after using Fast Dial.
I found version 2.8 and downloaded that. It worked as you say in your reply, however the preference section, normally accessible from the manage add-ons window is greyed out. I can no longer customise the functions or look of Fast Dial.
Eventually I have downloaded version 1.9 which is working fine, I just need to set it up again as it was before all this update fiasco began.
I do hope you manage to get all this sorted out. It is the curse of producing such a great and popular script.

Things are better now with Version 2.8 on Mozilla instead of 2.6

also i wanted to point out that alot of users get confused by the options button disabled in addons window - i have asked telega to enable this button to open root fd preferences.. so we will see what he says
other than that v2.8 seems fine to me - no issues here
right click FD page > Preferences for the settings box..

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 09/11/2008 - 22:46Upgraded to v2.8 after the bad v2.6 ... and STILL when i right-click (or ctrl-click -- I'm using a Mac) on a thumbnail, there is no "preferences" option in my context menu. The properties option doesn't do it -- it's just the properties for that thumbnail. I need to find the Fast Dial preferences so that I can reset the look of the page the way it used to be. (I have miniscule thumbnails, and I want to get them back up to a larger size.)
Where did FD preferences go on the Mac v2.8?

says
Options button in Addons window opens Preferences for the main Fast Dial folder.
Does this not work for you ?
