Fast Dial 4.12.2 vs. 4.14.4

I am using Fast Dial 4.12.2 by telega (http://www.userlogos.org/extensions/fastdial) with Mozilla Firefox (most recent version). The most recent version is 4.14.4 but that has some pretty serious quirks so I am using an older version. That works fine but it keep "calling home" to search for updates and there does not seem a way to turn this off. It appears every time I start Firefox and then reappears again after some hours.
So I guess my question is: How to I stop Fast Dial from calling home?

It's not Fast Dial, it's Firefox who is looking for updates.

Yes, I know that of course but the newer version of Fast Dial is not usable, it has, as I said, quirks, e.g. when I want to put in a new "dial" in Fast Dial, I not only get to chose from open tabs but from all my bookmarks. That is why I want to keep using version 4.14.2 which does not have those "quirks".

I see. BTW, if you want to add a page in a tab, you can right-click that page and choose "Add to Fast Dial" from the context menu. That's why list of opened tabs in Properties dialog isn't needed.

- I get a list of ALL my bokmarks as well as opened tabs.
T ofing only the opened tabs in that huge list is more work than I care to do.
The last version that handled this properly (i.e. ONLY opened tabs in the list) was version 4.12.2, the more recent ones makes a mess of this.

FastDial 4.14.5 is out and has somewhat solved or changed this problem but now I don't see anything in the URL field. Better than last version I suppose, when I got all my bookmarks showing up in a long list, as well as all open tabs, of which I only need to see opened tabs in order to put them on the Fast Dial page.
So as they say, nice try but no cigar.
