OK, I'm sorry - Just figured it out. Guess was looking too deep in settings . well what can I say...
I went Library and on very top there is >Import and Back up< button. Apparently it's done automatically.
Thanks, good thinking guys.

Anon, please click on Bookmarks>Organize Bookmarks and on the top, click on Import/Export. Export your bookmarks to someplace like "My Documents" and then, click on Import and import them from a time before you upgraded. See if this helps.

Beautiful solution

Submitted by Jeff Dunham (not verified) on Thu, 07/02/2009 - 03:07

Oh I am truly touched. So I (user) have to backup and then restore all my fastdial bookmarks?! Pretty stupid *solution*. First rule when writing software is - think beforehand! Author of this extension should incorporate automatic backups into it - not forcing users to do that for him! Dammit! That is the stupidest advice I have ever seen since Microsoft's crap.

Yes, it is for free but come on - what advice is this?!

Jeff Dunham

Thanks for your feedback

I agree this is obviously not a solution at all.

I have put together a post on this problem here

At the moment the cause of this problem is most unclear.

It is at the moment not clear if this is a Fast Dial caused problem

So far the problem has not been reproduced by the developer.

Please give any further feedback if you can

Many thanks

Fastdial malfunction

Submitted by Jeff Dunham (not verified) on Thu, 07/02/2009 - 12:23

Thank you.

Isnt there some kind of backup of fastdial.sqlite in profiles folder? All I have found is cache folder with png files (thanks for that filenames, they are *really helpful*). If they were named according to webpage they depict, I could easily rebuild my bookmark list. But now... all I can is search those tiny images one by one and try to figure out which page they show..... that is just impossible.

This just cannot be true.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Jeff Dunham

Thanks for your note

Your first question:

Isnt there some kind of backup of fastdial.sqlite in profiles folder?

Fastdial.sqlite was used on earlier Versions of Fast Dial.

Fast Dial is now stored in places.sqlite where Firefox Bookmarks are stored

I think you will find that recent Versions of Firefox back-up bookmarks (places.Sqlite) automatically.

Please go to Bookmarks/Organise Bookmarks/Import and Backup/Restore and you should find something like this.

Please restore an earlier backup.
This should hopefully restore bookmarks (places.sqlite) and hence Fast Dial as well.

Please let me know how you get on.
If you restore your bookmarks, then as Fast Dial is also stored in Bookmarks, (in places.sqlite), you should also get your Fast Dial back.

Please let me know if this is the case.
